The Juventude Planta e Resiste event is part of the UN-Habitat Urban Circuit 2025 and focuses on reflecting and discussing the role of youth in building sustainable alternatives in the face of the climate crisis and urban challenges. From different perspectives — such as agroecology, the relationship between biodiversity and society, waste management, and community-based environmental care — the event will explore strategies that connect climate action, environmental justice, and social innovation.
The activity will take place in the form of talks and an in-person discussion circle, bringing together guests with diverse backgrounds in research, activism, and environmental education. The approach is horizontal and intergenerational, valuing dialogue between academic and popular knowledge as well as everyday experiences of resistance.
The gathering aims to highlight how urban gardens, solidarity networks, responsible wildlife management, and the use of recyclable materials contribute to building cities that are more resilient, inclusive, and environmentally responsible. In this way, it emphasizes the ability of young people to bridge territories, knowledge, and times, showing that socio-environmental transformation is also built through small, collective, and local actions.
Youth that occupies, cares for, and transform urban territories.
