Every day, tons of food still suitable for consumption are discarded at street markets in Rio de Janeiro, while many families face hunger. The talk Consumir Melhor – Rio: Restoring Balance in the Urban Ecosystem presents a practical and safe solution to transform this waste into dignified food supply, connecting vendors, public authorities, and social organizations. The proposal demonstrates how to create a local system to collect, sort, store, and distribute surplus food in an organized way, with community support and respect for public health. Lasting about 30 minutes, the presentation uses maps, images, and real examples to explain each step of the process and highlight its environmental, social, and economic benefits. Afterward, there will be an open session for questions and dialogue with the audience. The goal is to inspire cities and citizens to build solidary and sustainable networks capable of reducing waste, fighting hunger, and promoting a new perspective on consumption on the streets.
