HAYÔ – Gathering of Knowledges for Climate Justice brings together ecologists and urban activists in a space of dialogue and collective creation of solutions to the climate crisis in cities. Under the theme “Local Actions for Awareness and Adaptation in Urban Contexts,” the event focuses on valuing ancestral and community-based knowledge — such as deep listening, cosmovision, and care for the territory — as foundations for practices of resistance and regeneration in urban environments. In an integrated experiential format, HAYÔ combines moments of cultural opening, experience-sharing panels, and audiovisual screenings. The program includes the Chegança [a Welcome session] — featuring café da roça (traditional rural coffee gathering) and readings of texts by Ailton Krenak and Nêgo Bispo; the panel Paraopeba Vive, on the revitalization of the river affected by the Brumadinho dam disaster; a conversation on Urban Agroforestry Systems, discussing social mobilization and technologies for restoring degraded areas; and a closing session with environmental short films by partner collectives. The approach emphasizes listening to Indigenous and popular knowledges, strengthening decentralized, community-driven solutions aligned with the Climate Action and Urban Environment thematic track of the 2025 Urban Circuit.
