Community Ownership, Right to Housing, and Sustainability
The event aims to promote a debate at the intersection of housing rights, land, and environmental sustainability. Specifically, it seeks to explore community land management models, focusing on collective territorial arrangements, housing cooperatives, and traditional populations, and how these contribute to the environmental agenda and climate change mitigation.
The event will be conducted in three languages – Portuguese, English, and Spanish – with participants from around the world. This multilingual approach is designed to facilitate the exchange of experiences and practices across different contexts, enabling mutual learning.
The impacts of the climate crisis on cities are already being felt as a present reality, not just a future projection. Therefore, it is crucial to consider solutions for realizing the right to housing in the face of this challenge, which involves rethinking the relationship communities have with the territories they occupy.
