The event is part of the Pré-FIMC: International Mask Festival of Cariri, organized by the NGO Beatos. It proposes a discussion circle with an artistic, urban, and environmental approach. Under the provocative theme “What if women designed cities?”, the event aims to explore the impacts and potential of a sensitive, collective, and biophilic urban perspective, drawing from the experiences of women artists and residents of peripheral neighborhoods in Crato, Ceará.
The activity directly aligns with the theme of Urban Circuit 2025 by proposing pathways toward fairer, more sustainable, and environmentally responsive cities, emphasizing women’s leadership and nature-based solutions. Participants will be invited to explore the biophilic potential of their territories through exploratory walks, the creation of symbolic masks, and exchanges with professionals from fields such as urban planning, architecture, safety, mobility, and the environment.
The culmination will be the Performative Biophilic Caravan — a masked parade occupying urban spaces as an act of reconnection with nature and affirmation of women’s right to the city. The format fosters open dialogue between art, care, and public space, promoting belonging, environmental revitalization, and sustainable urban practices.
The proposal is grounded in the Sustainable Development Goals (particularly SDG 11, SDG 13, and SDG 10), offering both a poetic and practical response to urban inequalities and the effects of the climate crisis. Biophilia — understood as love for life and nature — becomes a vector of urban transformation, linking environmental care to civic participation and social justice.
Inspired by the principles of the New Urban Agenda and certified by Gaia Education’s methodology, the NGO Beatos conducts this experience as cultural and ecological nourishment for the territory — enriching the soil where the fifth FIMC will soon bloom. It is an invitation to imagine cities designed with more affection, art, and nature.
