This event proposes a debate on the social, territorial, and symbolic impacts of two contemporary processes shaping the state: the expansion of renewable energies and the financialization of urban space through digital platforms. Structured in a series of conferences, the activity brings together researchers engaged with affected communities to critically analyze how policies and practices framed by the discourse of innovation and sustainability can, in practice, deepen inequalities and displacements. The first conference focuses on the tensions of the energy transition in the semi-arid region of Rio Grande do Norte, highlighting the effects of wind and solar power plant installations on traditional ways of life, landscapes, and territorial permanence. The second conference examines tourism-driven gentrification and real estate speculation in Natal, investigating the role of Airbnb in reshaping the city’s central and coastal areas. By bringing together social critique, urban anthropology, visual ethnography, and attentive listening, the event seeks to map the disputes surrounding the right to land, housing, and the city — affirming the urgency of policies grounded in territorial, environmental, and social justice.
