The international seminar is part of a broader initiative celebrating Innovation Month, promoted by the Municipal Secretariat for Economic Development of Contagem. It is guided by the directives of Mayor Marília Campos’ Government Plan (2025–2028), which prioritizes competitive, environmentally sustainable, and inclusive economic development, with a focus on innovation and energy transition. The event will bring together representatives from the public, private, academic, diplomatic, and non-profit sectors to discuss the challenges and opportunities related to the decarbonization of production chains, the circular economy, and international cooperation. The goal is to advance the use and improvement of the most promising technologies applied to intelligent and sustainable industrial solutions. The discussion is grounded in the context of Contagem — a city with a long-standing industrial vocation and robust economy, ranking as the third-largest in both economic output and population in the state of Minas Gerais. In the face of challenges posed by climate change, transformations in the global energy matrix, and the growing need for sustainability in business environments, it is essential that local governments play an active role in promoting a new, green, inclusive, and innovation-driven economy. Through SEDECON, Contagem aims to establish itself as a reference in industrial decarbonization policies, the promotion of the green economy, the encouragement of energy transition, and the strengthening of ESG practices.
