Neighbourhood planning as a strategy for sustainable cities

This webinar aims to discuss neighbourhoods as territorial planning units, understanding that they are deeply connected to the concept of sustainable urbanism, as stated in The Charter of the New Urbanism. The movement started in the 2000s, with (1) the Leipzig Charter, (2) the Cities of Tomorrow report, and (3) the development plans in the neighbourhood of Hasselberg, in Munich, and in La Elipa, Madrid. Years later, the Municipality of São Paulo instituted planning at a local scale as an urban instrument to tackle structural issues in different locations, through participatory practices. The webinar aims to encourage other municipalities to do the same, for more inclusive and sustainable cities. For full list of speakers check: www.circuitourbano.org
