The National Urban Forum will be held in celebration of Urban October and to mark five years since the Third Conference, Habitat III, for Housing and Sustainable Urban Development, which was hosted in Quito. As a member state of the United Nations, Ecuador committed to the adoption of the New Urban Agenda for the next 20 years and, therefore, the implementation of sustainable urban development. In addition, this event will be the space to prepare for the World Urban Forum 11 in 2022 and develop national progress reports which must outline advancements made towards the implementation of the NUA. In an effort to continue the exchange of experiences and foment new ideas, the third and final day of the conference will include another high-level panel discussing policies for habitat and housing in Ibero-America, as well as presentations on Ecuador’s SinCero Program from the German Technical Cooperation (GIZ), the 2030 Youth Initiative from UN-Habitat, Interventions in Public Spaces from IHS Rotterdam, and the Intermediate Sustainable Cities Program from the German Technical Cooperation (GIZ). Closing out the forum, the last working group session will commence, once again traversing the six complex themes contributing to sustainable urban development.
