National Urban Forum framed within the global theme of financing cities, focusing on financing strategies for the sustainable development of the island of Maio, one of the 9 inhabited islands of the Cabo Verde archipelago. The development of tourism has boosted the urbanization process of some islands in Cabo Verde, with impacts on urban planning, housing, access to water, energy, and sanitation, as well as certain services such as health and education, with consequences such as the emergence of informal settlements. Aiming to prevent these scenarios, this NUF will reflect on strategies to promote and finance sustainable urban development for the island of Maio.
