The event will present the program + Equals: Gender Policies Transforming Cities, an initiative of the FNP through the Women Mayors’ Commission, co-organized with the Alziras Institute. Launched in 2024, the program seeks to promote gender equality in municipalities through structural and cross-sectoral public policies. Its implementation was supported by funding from the French Development Agency (AFD), with institutional support from the Ministries of Women, Racial Equality, Indigenous Peoples, and Cities, as well as technical support from UN Women, Climate Observatory, and Sebrae Nacional.
The program mapped municipal good practices across three axes: Care Policies, Gender-focused Entrepreneurship, and Climate Justice. The call for applications received 98 submissions, of which 54 were deemed eligible, and 12 practices were published—3 of them in Climate Justice. The practices are available at: www.maisiguais.org.
The webinar will present the + Equals program and the three selected Climate Justice practices, showcasing how cities can address the challenges of climate change with an intersectional approach to gender and race. The format will be a webinar, with presentations of up to 15 minutes and a final debate.
