Through dialogue, reflection, and images of rare beauty, we will present the cycles of nature with a focus on water. We will start off with oceanic, marine, and coastal waters, moving toward the freshwater systems of the continent and their associated ecosystems. To illustrate this scenario, we will explore the Amazon Ecosystem, specifically the Amazon River Basin. Along this path, we will highlight the importance of processes such as evaporation, condensation, precipitation, infiltration, and transpiration, as well as the crucial role of living beings—plants and animals—in maintaining these cycles. In a second stage, we will reflect on the water cycle in the São Paulo Metropolitan Region and how these cycles are altered, leading, among other issues, to flooding caused by inadequate drainage.
