This session is the third in a series of dialogues being jointly organized by the Latin American Federation of Cities, Municipalities and Local Government Associations (FLACMA), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat). The initiative arises in the framework of the deployment in the Mesoamerican region of the Local2030 Coalition, a UN initiative to promote the localization of the SDGs, that is, to translate them from national commitments to tangible actions developed in the territory, at the level of municipalities and the plurality of local stakeholders. The dialogues are articulated around the concept of urban governance. By this means, we seek to encourage intersectoral collaboration: in each session, in addition to the participation of majors, a representative of one of the highlighted sectors is invited to present how his or her sector contributes to the improvement of effective urban governance systems. In this session, which will be focused on the theme "Resilient Cities and Disaster Risk Reduction", with the presence of three mayors from the region and a representative of a National Association of Municipalities, the Academia will be invited as a guest sector, highlighting its research and monitoring observatory roles.
