Cities are as smart as their educational facilities, and foremost and most numerous among them are schools. Older generations have grown accustomed to taking cities for granted, or - worse- indict them for a hoist of societal ills, from criminality to inefficiency, from exclusion to environmental disruption. But younger generations are capable of appreciating the positive virtues of cities, such as the magic of people, spaces, trees; the miracle of civic co-existence; their ability to function like marvelous machines; and their remarkable results in safeguarding nature. The 2025 Biennial of Public Space thus launched the "Learning the City" project, aimed at organizing dialogues with young students to build upon their instinctive appreciation of urban virtues. This year's dialogue will take place at Rome's Istituto Comprensivo Trionfale, taking advantage of the 2025 World Cities Day celebrations.
