Since 2017, UN-Habitat, in partnership with the Government of Alagoas, has been implementing the Visão Alagoas 2030 project, aimed at strengthening the state’s engagement toward sustainable and inclusive urban prosperity. The initiative seeks to foster a better understanding of the urban environment and to improve public policies, plans, and actions.
Among its various areas of work, the project developed the Guidelines for a State Strategy for Smart Cities in Alagoas. During the event, the Good Practices Guide for Smart Cities will be launched — a reference document that compiles successful experiences on the topic, organized into twelve thematic axes and implemented by different sectors such as companies, universities, public institutions, and cross-sector partnerships.
The event’s proposal is to use inspiring experiences to encourage debate on adopting smart solutions adapted to local realities and potentials, available technologies, and traditional knowledge — all with the goal of promoting population well-being and sustainable development.
