KITUO 25 – Balancing Preservation + Development

The first KITUO Conference – Balancing Preservation + Development seeks to establish itself as a plural space for dialogue, knowledge exchange, and cooperation around the preservation and activation of cultural heritage in Minas Gerais. Over three days in Diamantina, authorities, public managers, specialists, civil society representatives, and academics will discuss the main challenges of heritage management, combining innovation, sustainable development, and the valorization of local traditions. The program will include panels on data and indicators, thematic lectures on legislation, smart cities, urban mobility, tourism, and technology, as well as parallel sessions giving voice to community experiences and innovative projects. The event will also feature the launch of KITUO Lab, a space dedicated to experimenting with solutions, and the KITUO25 Heritage Summit, which will produce the “Diamantina Charter”, a guiding document for institutional and regional agreements. The closing session will include the signing of protocols of intent, tributes, cultural performances, and the announcement of the next host city. As a legacy, the event will produce an e-book compiling all presented works, reinforcing its role as a permanent instrument for social mobilization, collaborative governance, and the collective construction of public policies for heritage.
