World Cities Day is celebrated by the new Ministry of Urban Planning, Local Authorities and Territorial Planning in Senegal. The country is at a pivotal stage of its urbanization. Indeed, while the senegalese cities, which have the potential to be the cradles for human flourishing, are booming, the pressure on land, resources, job opportunities, and social services is exacerbating. This is caused by two phenoma, among others: 1) the absence of a national urbanization policy, organizing coherently the urban development, roles of actors and development strategies in Senegal; 2) the lack of integration of the country's vital force and future in urban governance processes: its Youth. This Forum intends to not only advocate for the importance of elaborating national policies (urbanization, housing, etc.), but also to showcase examples where the Youth was given a chance to intervene in urban processes, with great success, and thus, to inspire other municipalities to put their Youth at the forefront of urban development processes, for a better, more sustainable and more inclusive urban future.
