The event will be held in a online format in October 2025, lasting two hours, as part of the Conexões GPCAS – Amazonian Cities in Dialogue series, promoted by the Federal University of Rondônia.
The panel aims to discuss public policies and urban planning instruments focused on socio-environmental justice and the right to the city, recognizing that access to adequate housing, land regularization, risk prevention, and territorial management represent urgent challenges for the sustainable development of Porto Velho, Rondônia—especially in peripheral areas and traditional communities.
The session will be moderated by Professor Raduan Krause and will feature Raísa Thomaz, representing the municipal government, with reflections on the right to the city and urban development; Carla Tames, bringing her professional and academic experience to the debate on integrated planning and dignified housing; and David Nunes, addressing technical and constructive aspects of housing adapted to the regional environment.
The proposal seeks to connect housing, urban planning, and social participation as key pillars for building a fairer and more resilient city.
As part of Thematic Line 2, the panel intends to foster dialogue between academia, government, and civil society on pathways to ensure adequate housing, territorial security, and socio-environmental justice in the Amazonian context.
