INAUGURATION EVENT OF AL-SHUHADA LADIES GARDEN

UN-Habitat will be inaugurating the newly created Al Shuhada Garden in the town of Telafar, Ninewa Governorate, in the presence of UN-Habitat’s Regional Director, Head of Iraq Programme and local authorities. The garden was designed in consultation with the community and is being built at the heart of a neighbourhood badly affected by war. The works are being conducted through a local NGO who has recruited several unemployed women of the area after a period of on-the-job vocational training. Once completed, the garden will be open exclusively to women and children.
