How our rivers shape our past, present and future" is part of an ongoing project by Coletivo Ressuscita São Gonçalo, run with financial support from Casa Fluminense: the Sanitation Circuit, which aims to disseminate information and debate the issue in the city. We propose four activities, the open class will be the third, focusing on the importance of valuing, caring for and preserving the rivers that are born in or pass through São Gonçalo, and how they are key pieces of resilience in our urban planning in a climate emergency scenario. São Gonçalo is the worst city in the sewage treatment ranking in the state of Rio de Janeiro, according to the Trata Brasil Institute. In addition, the municipality suffers from frequent landslides, flooding and waterlogging. In this scenario, the poor and black population suffers the most, being victimised in a cycle of environmental and social vulnerability.
