Hakima El Haité

Dr. Hakima El Haité is currently an advisor of President Macky Sall for his Zero Waste initiative. Former Minister of Environment of Morocco, she was elected Vice-President of the United Nations Paris Climate Conference in 2015. In 2016, she was appointed High-Level Climate Champion of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change for COP22. She holds two PhDs, one in environmental studies from the University of Meknes, and one in Environmental Engineering from the École des Mines de Saint-Étienne, France. Dr El Haité is listed in 2019 and in 2022-23 by Apolitical as one of the 100 most influential people in Climate Policy. In April 2023, the Secretary-General of the United Nations appointed her as a member of the Advisory Board of Eminent Persons on Zero Waste.
