In June this year, The GoDown initiated the HerCity HerStreets Project. The project aims to improve the streets around the upcoming GoDown Arts Centre redevelopment, to make them safer and more inclusive public spaces, accommodating a diversity of shared commercial, social, and cultural activities. The HerCity HerStreets Minecraft Workshop is a design activity that uses Minecraft as a participatory digital tool. The Minecraft Workshop will commence on the morning of Saturday 30th October and conclude on Sunday 31st October with a presentation of the outcomes to a wider audience of stakeholders. This activity will give the participants the voice to address their needs in front of local authorities and other stakeholders in order to make them aware of their aspirations and how they envision their urban environment. The presentations will begin on Sunday 31st October, from 3.00 – 4.00 pm and will be held on site at The GoDown Arts Centre in Industrial Area. The 31st October also being World Cities Day, The GoDown will be celebrating the end of Urban October from 4.00 – 5.00 pm by providing a forum for some remarks from a few invited guests. The Ambassador of Sweden to Kenya shall be the chief guest.
