Five-Day World Habitat Day challenge: From Awareness to Community Action is a Youth-led hybrid campaign designed to engage young people and community members in understanding how everyday environmental practices can contribute to sustainable, resilient, and inclusive communities in line with the 2026 World Habitat Day theme, "Adequate Housing For All". From October 1-5, 2026, the campaign will combine in-person community engagement, virtual learning, and practical action in Omu-Aran, Kwara State, Nigeria. Day 1 will involve in-person campaign engaging residents and market users on the effect of indiscriminate waste disposal in drainage channels and promoting practical alternatives for proper waste management. Day 2 will feature a virtual webinar, "Tackling Urban Waste: From Community Action to Circular Solutions," with waste management specialist Zoë Lenkiewicz. Day 3 will explore "Building Flood-Resilient Communities: Infrastructure, Drainage, Disaster Risk Reduction", through three experts perspectives covering waste and flood risk, nature-based solutions, and youth advocacy for resilient communities and better urban policies. Day 4 will challenge participants to translate what they have learned into practical actions within their own communities adressing environmental challenges. Day 5 will document, reflect on, and share the campaign's outcomes and lessons through social media, encouraging continued community action bryond the five-day challenge
