FELINA – Literary Festival of the North Coast and Agreste Baiano is an event that celebrates literary narratives (written and oral) produced by cultural and educational agents in rural Brazil — the agreste baiano. It constitutes a space for resistance and preservation of intangible assets safeguarded in the traditions of quilombola and indigenous peoples, and in cultural and educational training focused on respect and appreciation for these cosmologies. FELINA goes beyond the celebration of literature: it promotes democratic access to reading, literary production, and critical thinking through workshops, round tables, and educational activities aimed at children, young people, and educators in the public school system. The event values diverse knowledge and artistic languages as pedagogical tools for emancipation and social inclusion. FELINA is the direct result of the trajectory of its creator, Andréa Rosevell, a black woman born in a Candomblé temple in Alagoinhas, Bahia, a journalist, master in Media Products, Processes, and Discourse, cultural producer, and curator who made an ethical and political commitment to create conditions for women, black populations, traditional communities, and other vulnerable groups to access dignity, voice, and recognition. The event is already part of the Regional Cultural Calendar, articulating a collaborative network between artists, public schools, universities, cultural collectives, the local press, civil society organizations, and public authorities.
