This year, Sekolah Rakyat took part in the 2025 World Habitat Day and World Cities Day celebrations in a special way through Essay Competition for junior high school students, themed “A Great City Begins with Smart Waste Management!”. The competition invites students to explore the journey of waste from home to school and city, reflecting on their experiences and ideas for building cleaner, healthier urban environments. By writing 800-word essays—handwritten or digital—students are encouraged to express how small actions and responsible waste habits can help address urban challenges such as pollution, flooding, and inequality. The activity embodies the belief that big changes start from small communities, that education nurtures responsibility, and that the most inspiring stories come from real experiences. Through this initiative, Sekolah Rakyat empowers students to turn words into action and transform urban crises into sustainable solutions.
