Ecosphere Sustainable Development Initiative (ESDI) will organize a community-based Urban October 2026 activity in Azare, Katagum LGA, Bauchi State, Nigeria, under the theme “From Clean Communities to Sustainable Communities.” The activity will bring together community members, youth, women, students, local businesses, community leaders and relevant stakeholders to promote cleaner, inclusive, resilient and environmentally sustainable communities. The programme will include environmental awareness, a community dialogue on local environmental challenges, a youth engagement activity titled “My Vision for a Sustainable Azare,” and a practical community environmental action such as cleanup, waste collection, waste separation or improvement of a selected public space. Participants will also discuss responsible waste management, environmental stewardship, climate awareness and community-led solutions. The activity aims to strengthen community participation, encourage practical environmental action, promote partnerships and generate locally relevant recommendations for sustainable community development. ESDI will document participation, activities, environmental results, stakeholder engagement and community feedback to support continued action beyond Urban October.
