Worldwide inequality has widened the gap between the rich and the poor, creating situations of social exclusion and poverty due to excessive income concentration. Southern Global nations find themselves on the periphery of this situation, based on their specificities and asymmetric power dynamics. Thinking of different ways to change this situation is one of the objectives of this event, starting with a reflection on changes in the fiscal and tax structure and expanding resource mobilization for investment. These opportunities should become sustainable and contribute to reducing the existing socioeconomic gap. At the national level, the event aims to discuss fiscal federalism and the role of taxes and intergovernmental transfers, with a focus on tax justice and inequality reduction. Furthermore, the event will address resource acquisition through new sources as a resilience-building measure for local governments in response to the challenges they currently face.
