COP das Quebradas - Systematization of Proposals and Cultural Closing

The Climate Vulnerability Map of Belo Horizonte reveals that the regions with the highest socio-environmental vulnerability are concentrated in the city’s peripheral areas, where vilas, favelas, and urban occupations are located. The COP das Quebradas [COP of the Peripheries] is a direct response to this urgency, bringing together local knowledge and public policies in a collective construction of resilience proposals for the city. Our goal is to collectively build proposals for public climate resilience policies based on listening to peripheral populations, so that they can be brought as Belo Horizonte’s contribution to COP30. The idea is for these proposals and recommendations to be systematized into an official document — the “Charter of the Peripheries.” 3:00 pm – Reading of the final manifesto: “Charter of the Peripheries for COP30”
