Gov.Munic – Applied Research Laboratory at UFRGS is composed of researchers focused on state capacities, public policies, and sustainable development indicators in Brazilian municipalities. The event “Climate Risk Management Policies for Cities” will present data and innovative models that influence the formulation and adoption of public policies for managing risks arising from climate change, with emphasis on the climate disaster that affected the State of Rio Grande do Sul in 2024. The event fosters a discussion led by researchers from the Applied Research Laboratory and that will be divided into three segments: the first on legislation and climate/environmental management in municipalities; followed by municipal risk management with a focus on adaptation and local public policies; and finally, the presentation of innovative models for local climate policies.
