The event “Climate Action and the Urban Environment: Perspectives for the City of Salvador/BA” will be held entirely online and will feature lectures by experts Paulo Zangalli and Andréa Cardoso Ventura, fostering an in-depth dialogue on the climate emergency and urban transformation. The first lecture, by Paulo Zangalli (Department of Geography, UFBA), will explore approaches to addressing climate-related challenges that go beyond conventional and technocratic perspectives, seeking to reconcile concrete measures with the necessary structural reform of Brazil’s urban fabric—starting from Salvador. The second lecture, at 9:05 p.m., by Andréa Cardoso Ventura (School of Administration, UFBA), will discuss the importance of pursuing urban resilience to face the climate emergency, the inclusion of Environmental Justice in Resilience Plans, and the structure of Salvador’s Resilience Plan. An interactive debate and Q&A session will follow at 10:05 p.m., and the event will officially conclude at 10:30 p.m.
