The panel “Cities to Belong: Housing, Culture, and Territorial Identity” is part of the Urban Circuit 2025 program and aims to discuss how the right to housing, cultural appreciation, and collective identity can be incorporated into urban planning.
Held in a online format, the meeting will bring together specialists from different fields to reflect on possible pathways to building more humane, inclusive, and sustainable cities.
The debate will address, in an interdisciplinary way, the legal and social frameworks of the right to housing and urban justice; the importance of culture and education as structuring axes of belonging in cities; and the role of landscape, open spaces, and environmental systems as supports for collective identity. Additionally, it will present perspectives on social innovation and smart cities as tools to strengthen social and cultural ties.
By bringing together insights from law, architecture and urbanism, landscape, and social innovation, the panel seeks to inspire public managers, professionals, and civil society to rethink the city as a space of belonging, diversity, and inclusion—aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals and the 2030 Agenda.
