The event aims to explore and learn from the experiences of municipalities that have combined urban planning and development instruments with strategies for coping with and adapting to climate change. Based on these local experiences, we will learn about and discuss the challenges and possibilities of linking urban policy with local climate action. The discussion will cover: a) municipal competences and capacities, debating the link between urban policy and cities' strategies for adapting to climate change; and b) the role of the federal government in developing support for these actions, through a national strategy aimed at adapting cities to climate change in the context of urban development.
