The event “Childhood, Nature, and Territory: Rural Schools” presents a 1h30 documentary depicting the realities and dreams of schools located in rural areas of Rio Bonito and Paracambi (RJ). The initiative is coordinated by LI²U – Itinerant Urban Innovation Laboratory, in partnership with local school communities. Through interviews with educators, families, children, and public administrators, the documentary highlights schools that, despite being distant from urban centers, serve as strategic spaces for environmental regeneration, climate justice, and the development of more resilient communities. The project showcases nature-based pedagogical and environmental initiatives—such as gardens, sensory gardens, shaded areas, and stream naturalization—designed collaboratively with teachers and students. Beyond giving visibility to often-overlooked rural realities, the event emphasizes the role of schools as centers of socio-environmental innovation and as key actors in public policies focused on childhood and climate action. The event is directly linked to SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), and SDG 13 (Climate Action), inspiring administrators, educators, and communities to recognize and strengthen the connections between education, nature, and territory.
