Founded in 2021 by a Caiçara woman born in the historic center of Búzios, the Associação das Mulheres Caiçaras Buzianas (Association of Caiçara Women of Búzios) is dedicated to safeguarding Caiçara memory and history. Today it is an association that brings together 70 members—daughters and granddaughters of fishermen—who in 2024 officially granted the Caiçara title to women volunteering with the association, recognizing their commitment and love for Búzios.
The event on October 13 intends to showcase the association’s recent actions in defense of Búzios’ rocky shores, as well as initiatives promoting the reuse of materials collected from local beaches and businesses, in partnership with the Municipality of Búzios.
Its focus is aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):
SDG 11 – Sustainable Cities and Communities
SDG 5 – Gender Equality
SDG 10 – Reduced Inequalities
SDG 13 – Climate Action
SDG 14 – Life Below Water
