As part of its contribution to Urban October, and in recognition of the World Habitat Day 2026 theme, “Adequate Housing for All,” the ALL-IN Research Network will convene a webinar examining the relationship between social housing, inclusion and women’s economic empowerment, with a focus on Sub-Saharan Africa. The webinar is organised and facilitated through the ALL-IN Research Network, a collaborative initiative between the International Centre for Evaluation and Development (ICED) and the Feed the Future Innovation Lab for Markets, Risk and Resilience at the University of California, Davis. The Network supports African researchers to learn through collaboration with mentors and peers, participate in research learning events and training, and explore opportunities for joint inquiry and funding. Drawing on the Evidence and Gap Map on Gender-Responsive Macro-Level Policies and Women’s Economic Empowerment in Sub-Saharan Africa, the discussion will explore how social housing policies intersect with the wider policy environment, including social protection, labour, care and public services. It will examine where relevant evidence exists, which outcomes have been studied and where further research is needed.
