ASD Publics | BCNeuroinclusiva: Playable cities for all: Activating Spaces with neuroDiverse Publics

ASD Publics | BCNeuroinclusiva explores innovative design strategies that link inclusive play with nature and aesthetics. The objective is to equip urban practitioners with methods and tools to design sustainable playgrounds, for and with children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and their families. To do so, four workshops will be held with small groups of people from this community to test and progressively improve the project’s performative co-creation methodology. This methodology offers a non-verbal bodily experience of space that involves experiments with the body, play and other creative ways of exploring sensoriality and the connection of people with space through aesthetic appreciation. The four workshops will take place in a green space at Les Glòries square, one of the emblematic Nature Based Solutions (NBS) urban transformations of Barcelona. The goal is to reimagine and transform play areas in cities by providing design guidelines that encourage inclusive play and nature-based solutions (NBS) in public space. The experience in Barcelona aims to be replicable and inspiring for other cities and countries in Europe to implement their own projects. EIT Community New European Bauhaus ASD Publics is supported by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), a body of the European Union.
