Amazonian Engagement: Design and Circularity in Action

Preserving the Amazon, with all its natural and cultural diversity, requires a new paradigm: valuing the standing forest more than the felled one. This involves understanding its complex systems and proposing sustainable alternatives rooted in the territory. This panel discusses how the circular economy can guide bioeconomy businesses, respecting the forest’s logic and empowering local micro and small entrepreneurs. The activity is part of the axis “Climate Action and Urban Environment”, recognizing that urban health depends on the resilience of ecosystems and the economies that support them. A highlight will be the project by Sebrae Nacional and Assintecal, curated by Walter Rodrigues and executed by VAUS, which uses design to propose sustainable solutions for Amazonian businesses based on abundance, regeneration, and community engagement. Aligned with the theme of Urban Circuit 2025 —“Facing Urban Challenges: Paths to Just and Sustainable Cities”—the panel promotes reflections on how collaborative networks, systemic innovation, and the valorization of local knowledge can transform production chains and generate positive impacts in urban centers, drawing vitality from territories such as the Amazon rainforest. The format will be a roundtable with project representatives and specialized moderation.
