As part of Urban October 2026, the Heritage, City and Architecture Foundation — HCA Foundation, Algeria — will launch a month-long knowledge series entitled: “Adequate Housing: The Key to the City” The initiative presents housing not simply as walls and a roof, but as the foundation of safe, connected, inclusive, sustainable and liveable neighbourhoods. From 1 to 31 October 2026, HCA Foundation will publish accessible analytical content exploring adequate housing, neighbourhood development and urban regeneration. The series will draw on data, international reports, comparative experiences, and observations grounded in the realities of Algerian cities. It aims to encourage public discussion among citizens, students, researchers, architects, urban planners and local stakeholders about the relationship between housing quality and wider urban well-being. From housing to the neighbourhood, and from the neighbourhood to the city, the series invites audiences to rethink housing as a key driver of more equitable and resilient urban futures. The full programme will be shared through HCA Foundation’s digital platforms.
