This event presents the Archipelago Project experience, developed in Porto Alegre through cooperation between the Municipal Government, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and an international team led by TU Delft (Netherlands).
As part of Urban Circuit 2025, under the thematic line Climate Action and the Urban Environment, the event will be structured around three panels reflecting the project’s main areas of action.
The first panel discusses how the Netherlands’ experience in water management and climate adaptation can inspire new approaches in the Brazilian context. The second highlights the challenges, solutions, and lessons learned from implementing the urban and socio-environmental plan for the Islands of Porto Alegre. The third introduces the project’s innovative methodological proposal, based on transdisciplinarity and participatory processes of listening, co-creation, and community engagement.
Following this, a roundtable will bring together representatives from the Municipal Government, UNDP, the local community, and the technical team, creating a space for dialogue on international cooperation, technical implementation, and social participation.
The program will also have a synthesis momento on the future perspectives of the Archipelago Project, highlighting its role as a reference for Brazilian cities facing the challenges of climate change in vulnerable urban territories.
