Jeju 21 September 2022 – In August of 2021, Korean Committee for UN-Habitat and Jeju Free International City Development Center signed an MoU to create an eco-friendly and sustainable green city in the future. Under the consensus that the role of youth is important than anything else, the two organizations first launched the Green City Ambassador as a part of the global youth exchange program to support talents in Jeju and international urban environment in 2021. Students of the 1st Green City Ambassador attended online meetings as the COVID-19 social distancing measure in Korea was escalated to Level 4. Active online discussions and participation took place on online meeting platform. The main session ‘Asia-Pacific Young Leaders Forum, Jeju’ was held on November 11 to 12, at the Landing Convention Center of Jeju Shinhwa World. Green City Ambassadors also operated the sessions in the planning stage. The 2nd Green City Ambassador participated in the launching ceremony of the Green City Ambassador on Jeju Island from September 21 to September 22. The launching ceremony consisted of programs including the World Heritage Festival, Jeju’s Beachcombing program, Climate Change Hall, and the side recce for the 2nd Asia-Pacific Young Leaders Forum, Jeju.
