The 1st Symposium and Regional Forum on Recyclable Solid Waste – Macaé/RJ will be held on site at the NUPEM/UFRJ auditorium, bringing together different sectors to engage in dialogue about the challenges and opportunities of recyclable solid waste management in the Campos Basin. The event focuses on strengthening the recycling chain and recognize the role of waste picking as a strategy for regional development, promoting socio-environmental inclusion and the creation of decent work opportunities. With a program featuring roundtables, thematic panels, and working groups, the symposium seeks to integrate science, the public sector, private initiatives, and civil society, fostering innovative solutions aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and ESG principles. Planetary Health and Sustainability guide the discussions, linking integrated recyclable waste management, public health, and collective well-being. This initiative is part of the UN-Habitat Urban Circuit calendar, positioning Macaé as a reference hub for sustainable and collaborative practices.
