The event “Urban Environment: Sanitation and the Padre Ibiapina Reservoir in Princesa Isabel, PB” will be hosted by the Federal Institute of Paraíba – Princesa Isabel Campus through the CACTUS Extension Center (Community Advisory Center for Technologies and Social Utilities), with support from the Sala Verde Caatinga em Flor project, part of the Green Classrooms Program of the Ministry of the Environment. The initiative aims to integrate local socio-economic and environmental aspects related to water resources and basic sanitation. Coordinated by CACTUS, which develops actions addressing environmental degradation in the region, the in-person event will take place during the National Science and Technology Week 2025 (October 20–23) and will engage students and the local community of Princesa Isabel, a small city located in the Caatinga biome. The event will discuss the importance of water resources, focusing on the Padre Ibiapina reservoir as a tool for climate change mitigation and adaptation in the semi-arid northeastern context. It also highlights the reservoir’s critical role in the city’s basic sanitation, contributing to improved urban environmental quality and, consequently, enhancing the quality of life for local residents.
