Marking the beginning of Urban October 2023 at the National Institute of Technology, Calicut, the Department of Architecture and Planning is organising World Habitat Day 2023 with an interactive session with Dr John Harrison, Research and Innovation Director (Geography & Environment), Loughborough University, U.K. He is planning to discuss 'Planning Urban and Regional Futures'. The event will be held in hybrid mode at the Conference Hall, Department of Architecture and Planning, NIT Calicut, on October 3, 2023, from 5-6pm (IST). John Harrison is an Urban and Regional Geographer at Loughborough University, United Kingdom. John is Associate Director of the Globalization and World Cities (GaWC) research network, Deputy Editor-in-Chief and Urban & Regional Horizons section editor of the journal Regional Studies, and Board Member and Trustee of the Regional Studies Association. His work examines global urban studies, urban-regional theory, and the planning and governance of cities and regions. Recent books include Planning Regional Futures (2021), Metropolitan Regions, Planning and Governance (2020) and Doing Global Urban Research (2018). The event is being coordinated by Dr Mohammed Firoz C, Associate Professor, and Dr Sanil Kumar, Assistant Professor at the Department of Architecture and Planning, NIT Calicut.
