The proposed activity, led by CEARQ, the architecture student group at Universidad del Norte in Barranquilla, Colombia, seeks to establish a space for dialogue, collaboration, and collective reflection on the challenges and opportunities of housing in the Colombian Caribbean. Grounded in the region’s social, cultural, environmental, and urban realities, the Campus aims to explore how housing can become a catalyst for more inclusive, resilient, sustainable, and equitable communities. The Colombian Caribbean faces housing challenges that extend beyond the provision of physical units. These include inequalities in access to adequate and affordable housing, informal urban growth, climate vulnerability, limited access to infrastructure and public services, and the need to preserve local identities and ways of living. In a region characterized by diverse landscapes, cultural expressions, and climatic conditions, housing solutions must respond to local contexts rather than rely on standardized approaches. The Campus proposes to bring together students, academics, public institutions, private-sector representatives, architects, urban planners, community actors, and international organizations to exchange knowledge and perspectives. By connecting academic research, professional practice, public policy, and community experience, the event will encourage interdisciplinary discussion and identify opportunities for collaborative action.
