Botswana will join the international community in commemorating World Habitat Day. This day was set aside to raise awareness on challenges facing human settlements and to remind the world of its collective responsibility towards the future of the human habitat. This year's theme " Housing for All: A better Urban Future" emphasises that inclusive, affordable and adequate housing is the key to sustainable cities and communites. This is particularly so in the COVID era, which has brought to the fore the vulnerabilities of households that live in inadequate housing.
This year's commemoration will be virtual. A live television programme at BTV offices has been organised to deliver the 2020 World Habitat Day message to Batswana. The UN Resident Coordinator and the Minister of Infrastructure and Housing will deliver key messages. The public will then be given a chance to contribute to discussions.
