Urban community garden of plants with nutritional and medicinal value

With a focus on valuing the quality of life of our cities, we have observed an increasing interest in gardening and cultivation of domestic gardens in urban spaces during this year with the pandemic. This web-based workshop aims at encouraging the continuity of such tendency in the cities and urban spaces even after the pandemic is over.

The search for healthy food, the charm and the pleasure of personally harvesting what is produced stimulate the search for knowledge on the benefits and potential of nutritional and medicinal plants that can be cultivated and harvested in small domestic and urban community spaces. Urban gardens contribute to the general well-being of the families and the communities.

They also help providing affordable and pesticide-free food sources and healthier diets while revitalizing many of the city spaces. We will present the process of organizing the creative vegetable gardens using recycled materials, rotation and variety of crops and many other basic information on the subject. Our understanding is that supporting such sustainable practices and initiatives may contribute to providing new and creative ways to live in urban spaces.
