What’s My Penalty? LL97 Calculator Demo

Archtober Event: Join BE-Ex for a live demonstration of the LL97 Carbon Emissions Calculator, an exciting new tool developed in partnership with AKF Group and the NYC Accelerator to help building stakeholders understand where their building stands in respect to Local Law 97.

In 2019, New York City Council passed the Climate Mobilization Act, a groundbreaking set of bills aimed at reducing building sector carbon emissions. The centerpiece of the legislative package, Local Law 97, requires buildings above 25,000 square feet to meet strict greenhouse gas emission limits starting in 2024, with increasingly stringent limits following in 2030, and again in 2035. Non-compliant building owners will be subject to a penalty for emissions in excess of these limits.

NYC building owners—what are your building’s emissions in relation to these limits? Will emissions reduction measures be required to meet the first compliance period; if not, the second or third? What sort of penalty will your building incur across each of these compliance periods, given inaction?

The LL97 Carbon Emissions Calculator helps to address these critical questions. To get started, join us for a live online demonstration and Q&A with the project team responsible for this application’s development.
