The pandemic of COVID-19 came to exacerbate and highlight the various sanitary and sanitation deficiencies in the peripheries of the main Urban Poles. Considering Luanda as a paradigmatic case, with almost 1/3 of the country population, where 80% of them live in very precarious urban areas, where the lack of basic sanitation and population densities, overcrowding of houses (three people per room), inaccessibility to urban services (firefighters, solid waste collection, police), lack of public space and green areas, cross ventilation, internal unhealthy conditions, dependence on the Informal Sector, where through self-employment or the acquisition of goods and services, difficulty in food access, security and health services. A group of experts will holistically address COVID-19 Impact Mitigation Measures on topics such as: Urban Planning and Management, Basic Habitability, Informal Trade, Food Security, Governance and Hygiene.
