COVID-19 Challenge Prize Giving Ceremony

This is a virtual event by WIRE Kenya to award the winners of the COVID-19 challenge : Innovation through Crisis scheduled for 8/10/2020 from 12.00 noon to 1.30 pm.

BACKGROUND.
The COVID-19 pandemic has had a profound impact on cities all over the world transforming life as we know it. The outbreak has brought to light that urban centers are the front and last lines of defense against infectious disease, yet they are vital for national economic recovery.As we adapt to the new normal, the pandemic is a chance to focus the attention on what can and should be changed, to reevaluate the way cities are built, maintained, and lived in. It has prompted rethinking the planning and design of cities for resilience.
WIRE competition was aimed at bringing together Ideas & Innovations in Built Environment that reshape planning of African cities and urban infrastructure to promote infection control, slow future pandemics and help people adapt to a post-pandemic world. The competition was be based on the following categories: Tech innovations, Design Innovations, Planning Interventions, Policy and Legislation.
The competitors were to submit proposals by the given date and it was judged by a jury of professionals in the built industry.
