The exponential growth of vulnerability contexts in Brazilian and Latin American cities in the face of climate change calls for integrated and strategic governance. Unplanned urbanization and social inequality intensify disaster risks. This session will present perspectives from local and national governments, along with experiences from international organizations that support governance models for sustainable development and disaster risk reduction in Latin America.
The session will highlight the importance of a multilevel and multisectoral approach that connects climate adaptation and risk management. Strengthening coordination among government spheres, sectors, and communities builds urban resilience and promotes safer, more sustainable cities.
